EGGNOG FRENCH TOAST

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 loaf hearty bread
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups eggnog 
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract 
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg plus more for garnish 
  • 4 Tbsp. butter or ghee
  • Maple syrup - optional

HOW TO MAKE EGGNOG FRENCH TOAST

  1. Cut bread into thick slices and place half of the bread in a shallow baking dish or large bowl
  2. Crack 5 eggs into a mixing bowl and add 1 1/2 cups eggnog. Whisk in 1 tsp. vanilla extract, 2 tsp. cinnamon, and 1/4 tsp. nutmeg. Stir all of the ingredients until completely combined.
  3. Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread and turn each piece over until it is completely coated.
  4. Heat a skillet or griddle to medium-low. Add 1 Tbsp. of butter or ghee and allow to melt completely.
  5. Once the pan is fully heated and the butter melted add as many pieces of bread as will fit in the pan. Toast the first side for a few minutes until it is golden brown. Flip and repeat on the second side of the bread. Each side will need to cook for a few minutes depending on the size of the bread and the type of pan you are using. Repeat steps 3-5 with the remaining bread slices.
